Generally you can use any CAD program that is able to export into following file formats:
- STL - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STL_(file_format)
- DXF AutoCAD - Must support 3DFACE element
Wings 3d provides export to STL file format.
If you will find another one please let me know.

ER; Face Selection on direct on model
Hello I would like to submit the following as and enhancement request. Currently, at least to my knowledge theres no way to select the faces directly on the model to apply loads, etc... I have to rely on the list and knowing which face is the one I really want appears to be time consuming. Unless there is an easier way to do this, I welcome any feedback. Thanks Tom

RE: ER; Face Selection on direct on model
Thank you for your post.
Yes you are correct. There is currently no other way.
I think such change as you have suggested would be useful and welcomed by many users so I have added it to my list of future improvements.
Currently I am preparing version 2.1.0 so there is not time to implement it but it will be included in one of the following minor releases (few weeks after the release of 2.1.0).

Feature you suggested is now implemented in the software. Please download the latest version to try it.

I'm trying to get my head round Range to see if it is likely to be of use in solving the kind of simple thermal problems I come across in electronics. If I have more than one body in the model, the mesh generator gives unspecified errors. I don't know if this is simply because it is an unlicensed version that has reached the node limit or if there is some error in the problem set-up. If I use Gmsh instead, it loads and solves, but gives no thermal connection between the bodies. I can't find a way of getting round this. I want dissimilar materials so it seems that multi-body problems are the only way of doing this. Does anyone know where I'm going wrong?

RE: Multi-body problems
I have exchanged several emails with Richard regarding his problem. The cause was that there were self-intersecting triangles in his surface mesh and therefore mesh generator was not able to generate a 3D mesh. Running function from Element menu: "Geometry->Edit Faces->Break Intersected Triangles" solved the problem.

Material Database Sharing
Is there a way to share a Material database from Range so users can share? If so, I welcome anyone that is willing to share a Plastics database, primarily for ABS injection molded type material. Thanks Tom
